About Us Barone, Murtha, Shonberg and White, Inc. was formed in 1984 in response to an increasing need for quality real estate appraisal and consulting services in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Since that time the firm has experienced sustained growth and established a solid reputation with local and national financial institutions, government agencies, developers and the legal community. The principals in Barone, Murtha, Shonberg and White are all members of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) and participate in the continuing education program. The firm also maintains membership in a variety of other real estate industry groups, most notably the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP) and the Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR) and the Pennsylvania Health Care Association (PHCA). Appraisal certifications are held for the states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, New York, Virginia and West Virginia. Brokerage licenses are held for Pennsylvania. Our service area encompasses the Mid-Atlantic States and portions of the mid-west and southeast. With twelve in-house appraisers and extensive subcontractor contacts, assignments are completed quickly and professionally. The large staff also allows for a wide range of expertise, with personnel specializing in industrial properties, federally subsidized housing, hospitality, retail, and healthcare, although the entire spectrum of property types is covered.
